Maris Sal (Dead Sea minerals)

Thanks to more than 15,000 years of progressive evaporation in a basin that is the furthest below sea-level of any place on earth, Dead Sea minerals are the most concentrated natural form on earth. Awakening isolates two particular minerals out of a basis of more than 120: Potassium, a natural topical skin hydrator, and Magnesium, a natural topical anti-allergen for skin.

Magnesium

Magnesium is the 9th most common element in the universe, and it makes up approximately two percent of the Earth's crust. It is the 3rd most common element found in seawater. Magnesium ions are essential for the function of the cells of all known living organisms, and are present in over 300 biochemical reactions in the human body. Magnesium is a fundamental component of the human diet, and a deficiency in magnesium is connected to many diseases. Magnesium is therefore a building block of human life. As such, its efficacy as a skin care ingredient is unparalleled. It penetrates below the surface of the skin, assisting in regeneration and healing of damaged skin cells. It is also a natural anti-allergen that supports healthy skin against allergic skin rashes.

Potassium

Potassium is an alkali metal found in seawater and certain minerals. It is another of the building blocks of human life. Potassium is an important component of neural function, and plays a major role in muscle contractions. Potassium is also responsible for the regulation of "osmotic pressure" in the human body. Essentially, this means that it maintains the body's fluids in the proper state of concentration. Potassium's role as a hydrator is what makes it so incredibly valuable as an ingredient in skin care products. There is simply nothing else in the world that can promote the moisturizing of your skin like potassium.
